About me

Mike graduated in 2005 from Manchester Metropolitan University in Applied Ecology (BSc Hons).  Following this Mike spent several years travelling and volunteering with Ecological Consultancies, Wildlife Trusts and Conservation Organisations across the world, including time spent working as a conservation volunteer on the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.

Mike graduated with a Masters Degree in Environmental Impact Assessment and Management (MA) in 2011 from Manchester University and began working as a Seasonal Ecologist for Wardell Armstrong.  Following his MA graduation, Wardell Armstrong employed Mike on a full time basis as a Graduate Ecologist.

Mike has subsequently worked his way up to Principal Ecologist within Wardell Armstrong where he managed the Greater Manchester Ecology team until he left to set up Middlewood Ecology in 2018.

Conservation

In addition to a career in Ecology, Mike has always enjoyed volunteering for nature conservation projects, whether here in the UK or further afield across a number of continents.

Since 2014, Mike has volunteered with the Derbyshire Badger Vaccination Project.  The largest badger vaccination program currently running in the UK, Mike volunteers as one of the trained and licensed vaccinators who trap and vaccinate badgers against TB, across the county of Derbyshire.
